So this isn’t a video, and you are probably thinking “WTF Christal! I count every minute until TLC Thursday to hear such wisdom!!…” Ok… well, in my dreams that’s what ya’ll are saying and since we are on the subject of dreams, this week I had the opportunity to reflect on a couple of mine. I had many things to celebrate this week!
A wrap up of a project my team and I have been working on for a while, the completion of my ALS ice bucket challenge (and if you don’t understand why I’d celebrate that, you probably never experienced the feeling of having freezing ass water/ice being thrown on your head!) Here is the video of that experience haha!
And, another thing to celebrate was the ability to make dream boards with my mom and sister… love me some family time…
“Dream boards?” you may ask.
Well, I truly believe in the power of manifesting and visualizing the things you want.
However, with that comes a huge responsibility to.. well… work your ass off for them! There were a few other truths that hit me this week just based on things I always experience when I start manifesting and achieving, which I will share below, but I would like to first tell you… and this may sound weird so don’t hold this against me, but I have a love/hate relationship with manifesting.
Why? Because, every time I manifest a new dream, I usually kill an old dream. Even though it’s almost always a dream that that isn’t congruent to me anymore, it’s still a death of a dream I used to believe so much in. I know how crazy that sounds but no matter my love/hate relationship I have with manifesting; it doesn’t take away the excitement I feel after I create new and empowering dreams!
So let’s get to it, my 5 things you need to KNOW about living the “dream life.
Balance is a Myth
WHAAAT?! Ya heard me, and I actually talk about this in a past TLC Thursday video that you can watch here – “Could Living a Balanced Life be a Myth?”
The truth is, everything I ever achieved took away some focus in other areas of my life. Not to say I let everything go to the shitter, but I definitely don’t give “balanced” energy to everything, and you know what?… that’s totally ok, if … you know #2!
Give Intention not just Attention to Everything you do
This is definitely for my ladies; we naturally give “attention” to everything, why? Because we are not single focused. We are drawn to so many things. Even socks talk to us! If you think I’m going cray for saying this, what does it feel like when you are, working, reading or preparing dinner and there is a random sock on the floor? Could you just leave it? no! Of course, you can’t! You were gifted to give attention to everything.
Now, my advice when you are manifesting and creating anything you want to achieve is to put all your intention into it. “Attention” will naturally come as that is something we are gifted with, but when you have strong “intentions” for the things you do, that means you have a strong enough “why.” And when you have a strong “why” you will do more things that are truest to your spirit. And we want true, don’t we?
Have a Cool Ass Daily Ritual
This is another thing I talked about in a past video when I was on vacation and I felt so chaotic in my mind that I couldn’t truly take in the beauty that surrounded me because I was forgetting things daily. Click here to watch “Creating a Ritual That Excites and Ignites Passion.”
Remember when I said, its not enough to visualize the things you want, you need to “DO.” Having a daily ritual that you love will help with this, as it will give “intention and attention,” to all the things you are working towards. Most importantly, having an empowering ritual will give not just peace of mind but it will also make you more connected and energized to things that are truly important.
Striving for Perfection is Weak
Oh yes, girl! I said it. This is something I had and am continually learning, as I was a “perfectionist addict.” The truth is, and Danielle Laporte says this best, “Don’t let your want for perfection become procrastination.” amen!
This is always hard to truly take in but seriously it’s the truth! Relationships aren’t always perfect, finances aren’t always perfect, business projects aren’t always perfect, and if you think living a dream life = perfection, that is a sure and bumming way to take the joy right out of your life…. And I ain’t gonna let you do that!
Show some LOVE for where you are NOW
This is uber important advice! I often hear people living in the future of what they want and how they would be happy if or when they do x,y, z …
The truth is your dream shouldn’t be circumstantial and future based. Because guuuuuurl…. I know a shit ton of people who have the money, have the house, have the job and you know what…. Most of them ain’t happy!
I encourage you to celebrate where you are now. Even if there are stresses, even if you aren’t in your “ideal” house, and even if there are things you want to improve on yourself or a relationship. When you show appreciation for what you have and who you are now, you will feel the strongest love from the universe.
