Another playlist coming at you for my babes who spend hours in front of the computer. If I’m writing (especially a book) I need music with no words. I’m really easily distracted so when songs have words, or words I know, I end up wanting to sing instead of work.
Months ago I talked about my love for Cinematic music. Preferably, James Horner.
“Im a fanatic about Irish music. I love its moody, modal and timeless quality. I’m different from some other composers, because I don’t look at this as just a job. I think of music as art.” -James Horner
Side Note: James Horner was the composer for most of my favorite movies. Braveheart, Titanic, Legends of the Fall, Avatar, Bicentennial Man… the list goes on.
I grew up on cinematic (epic) movies. Even at an early age I connected with the story telling each film and the characters they portrayed. I remember the first time I saw Braveheart, I was inspired by the bravery of William Wallace and the courage he had to fight for whats right. But there was something to be said about the music that was behind each scene.
It captured my soul in a major way (insert theme song). I truly believe in the power of music and its ability to tell a story in of it’s self, and even now when I hear the folk sounds of Braveheart, I find myself channeling William Wallace’s courage and determination which definitely helps when I’m working on something I’m unsure of how it will be perceived.
And let’s not get into the Bicentennial Man soundtrack. This soundtrack can literally bring tears to my eyes in a second. Especially this song: The Gift of Mortality
Everything about this song is just so beautiful and always puts me in a contemplative state, which is obviously what you want when you need to focus. If you haven’t seen Bicentennial Man, I encourage you to do so! It actually depicts the future of technology and robotics perfectly especially since we are heading down that way. Plus, Robin Williams is the main actor and does a PHENOMENAL job! (RIP Robin Williams)
Kristy Petersen SAYS:
Oh yesss so could have used this today while I sat at my lap top working for hours!! Can’t wait to play this one ????????
