Today Christal discusses the differences between your CORE values and your PERSONAL values – How your life values show you the tempo of your life – Which set of values is important for you and your significant other to have in common.
Values are something I believe rarely get’s discussed but are at the core of the fulfillment (or lack thereof) in life. You’ve heard me say this before…
“The relationship you have with yourself sets the foundation for the relationship you have with others.”
Well, ladies, that foundation IS your values! But here’s what I’ve found out… Most people don’t even know what they value in life. If I asked you to write down your top 5 values, what would they be?
Would you even know?
Don’t feel ashamed if you don’t. In this episode I am going to help you discover what your values are and you will even have a bit of homework after. I promise it’s the only homework assignment you’ll WANT to do. I’m actually shocked they don’t make this topic mandatory in schools.
I mean, raise your hand if you wish they this stuff was taught in school.
Why is this even important though? Because so many of us are walking around blindfolded, getting into relationships or situations that don’t serve us all because we don’t know… What? – Say it with me!
In the last episode of “Talk Listen Change,” we discussed the difference between standards and expectations. How expectations are, usually, the #1 killer of relationships yet so many of us believe that expectations are necessary to have so, we don’t “get walked all over.”
There are 2 reasons we get taken advantage of:
1. Don’t know what’s important to us (values)
2. Don’t have clear-cut standards that protect these values.
So today, I hope to point you in the right direction of your values. Why? Because it’s just not cute anymore that we don’t know what’s important to us.
There are two sets of values we are going to discuss today. Your CORE values and your PERSONAL values. These are different but both very important to understand. One set of values rarely change while the other changes based on the stage of your life. I am going to help you uncover both in today’s episode so you can find out the tempo of your life.
Have you ever thought of values being the pace, tempo or metronome of your being? That sounds pretty intense, right? Well, it’s true! Give me your CORE VALUES and PERSONAL values, and I can tell you how you move and groove in the world. It’s wild but very true and the key in a relationship is to find someone who grooves at your same pace!
Well, we discuss this in-depth in today’s episode.
